Every member of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra I Netherlands Chamber Orchestra began making music at an early age, playing their first cautious notes under the watchful eye of an experienced teacher or inspiring coach. Today, they too are nurturing the musical development of young people, from schoolchildren to conservatory students.
Discovery
Members of NedPhO I NKO help to develop musical talent in young people of diverse ages and abilities. In the Learning Orchestra, they introduce primary schoolchildren to various instruments, offering an opportunity to try them out and hear the different sounds they make. Above all, they inspire and motivate youngsters as they embark on a musical journey of discovery.
Growth
The talented members of several youth symphony orchestras enjoy personal guidance from their professional counterparts as they prepare their concert repertoire. The Amersfoort Youth Orchestra has achieved great success in various large international competitions, while the Almere Youth Symphony Orchestra has long been acknowledged as one of the best in the country.
Professionalization
Outstanding young players can further develop their talent by means of practical experience in the professional setting of a top orchestra. Young musicians are invited to take part in major concert productions as part of the Academy of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra|Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, while a stand-out young conductor is given the unique opportunity to spend two years as assistant to the principal conductor, Lorenzo Viotti.
