For this benefit concert shief conductor Lorenzo Viotti and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra join forces with Dutch National Opera & Ballet
All of us have watched the continued Russian invasion of Ukraine with shock and horror these past few weeks. It has made us incredibly sad to witness our Ukrainian colleagues’ cries for help and to hear the heartbreaking stories of our Ukrainian and Russian singers and dancers at Dutch National Opera & Ballet. Our hearts go out to those in the Ukraine and to everyone suffering in these dark times. But sympathy alone is not enough. This is why Dutch National Opera & Ballet and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of chief conductor Lorenzo Viotti, will be giving a benefit concert on Sunday 13 March in aid of those in the Ukraine. The entire proceeds from the concert will be donated to Giro 555 in support of Ukraine.
Programme
Opera & Ballet voor Oekraïne is a joint effort, featuring the Chorus of Dutch National Opera, the singers of Dutch National Opera Studio and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of chief conductor Lorenzo Viotti. A varied music programme will be presented that will last just over an hour and will include pieces that range from Mozart and Mahler to traditional Ukrainian songs. The soloists of Dutch National Ballet will dance Rudi van Dantzig’s pax de deux Voorbij gegaan to piano music by Frédéric Chopin.
