Bach's St Matthew Passion conducted by Ivor Bolton

The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra plays Bach's Passion music every year. This year, the orchestra collaborates with the National Mixed Youth Choir.

Together with six top international soloists, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and the National Mixed Youth Choir will perform Bach's St Matthew Passion , conducted by Ivor Bolton. Bolton is one of the most prominent conductors in the field of Baroque and Classical repertoire. In 2024, he also collaborated successfully with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in a performance of the St Matthew Passion.

About the St Matthew Passion

Bach's musical account of the last days of Jesus is brilliant, compelling and moving. Those who hear the opening chorus of the St Matthew Passion are immediately captivated by the almost otherworldly beauty and intensity of this music. Other highlights include the moving soprano aria ‘Blute nur’, the comforting alto aria ‘Erbarme dich’ with its famous violin solo and the overwhelming choral work ‘Sind Blitze, sind Donner’.

Ivor Bolton replaces conductor René Jacobs, who unfortunately had to cancel this concert due to personal circumstances.
