Christian Tetzlaff is appearing with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra both as a violin virtuoso and as a conductor. He is the soloist in Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and the conductor for another work by Mendelssohn and a work by Schönberg.

Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto by Christian Tetzlaff
Violinist Tetzlaff with Mendelssohn
Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto is one of the most beloved violin concertos. Every virtuoso has it in their repertoire, and Christian Tetzlaff is no exception. His interpretation borders on perfection, as evidenced by his Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik award-winning recording of this work.
Conductor Tetzlaff with Schönberg
What is special is that Tetzlaff not only performs as a soloist, but also conducts the orchestra. He conducts the orchestra in Mendelssohn's First Symphony , written when the composer was only fifteen years (!) old. Schönberg's Verklärte Nacht is a sizzlingly sensual poem for strings about unbreakable love in a moonlit night-time landscape.
This programme can be heard on 15 April at Theater De Vest Alkmaar, on 16 April at PHIL Haarlem and on 17 April at Het Concertgebouw.
