Two unique ensembles from the Netherlands Philharmonic will play special chamber music this afternoon. First, the Piano Quintet in c by Vaughan Williams. Especially in this quintet, with a double bass instead of a second violin, the composer lets us hear his preference for the dark tone. In addition, the extraordinary Sextet for piano and winds by Poulenc will be heard. A comic and satirical work, which is precisely melodic and light. Typical Poulenc!
