The British conductor Adam Hickox has been widely praised for his expressive and nuanced interpretations. He became chief conductor of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra in September 2025.

Recent opera productions include Candide at Norwegian National Opera, Hänsel und Gretel at Staatsoper Hamburg, Tosca at Opera North, and La bohème and La traviata during the Glyndebourne autumn season. From 2023 to 2025, he was principal conductor at Glyndebourne Sinfonia. In the concert repertoire, he has worked with orchestras such as the Orchestre de Paris, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Hickox studied composition at the University of Cambridge and orchestral conducting at the Royal Academy of Music. From 2019 to 2022, he was assistant conductor for the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, where he worked closely with Lahav Shani.
