Alexandre Kantorow

Piano

The Franco-British Alexandre Kantorow has been hailed by critics as “The Czar of the piano” and “The reincarnation of Liszt.

At the age of sixteen, he made his professional debut at the La Folle Journée Festival in Nantes. In 2019, the then twenty-two-year-old pianist broke through internationally at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow; in addition to the gold medal, he also won the Grand Prix, which had only been awarded three times before in the competition's history. Kantorow has soloed with the Orchestre de Paris, the Berlin Philharmoniker, the Rotterdam Philhamonic Orchestra and has been a guest of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra several times before. He has played in such famous venues as the Berliner Konzerthaus, Carnegie Hall in New York and Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, where he performed in the prestigious Master Pianist series. His first CD, titled À la Russe , was immediately awarded the Choc de l'Année and the Critics Prize named him “Revelation of the Year 2019. His latest CD of works by Brahms received a Diapason d'Or.

“I didn't reach the top. I only climbed the first mountain and now I see a huge mountain range around me.”
