André de Ridder is artistic director of Theater Freiburg and internationally known for his versatility, from baroque to contemporary music.

He works with leading orchestras such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, BBC Symphony Orchestra, and the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
In the 2023/24 season, he conducted new productions of
Hänsel und Gretel

Don Carlos

Die Zauberflöte
in a unique version at the Theater Freiburg, directed by Marco Štorman. Highlights of last season included his concerts with Colin Currie, Isata Kanneh-Mason, Antje Weithaas, and such works as Berlioz's
Symphonie Fantastique
and Mahler's
Symphony No. 5

De Ridder has been heard in guest appearances with the New World Symphony Orchestra in Miami, the Oulu Symphony Orchestra and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, among others. He was also on the podium at the Staatstheater Stuttgart for a performance of
Nixon in China
and at the Philharmonie de Paris with
Einstein on the Beach
