Beverley Julie Lunt was born in Liverpool and began her violin studies at the age of nine.

When she was sixteen, she received a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music with Jaroslaw Vanaceck. She continued her studies at the Sweelinck Conservatory to earn her solo diploma with Herman Krebbers in 1986. Lunt has been a member of the renowned Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
Beverley Julie Lunt is primarius of the Johannes Brahms Quartet and of the Schubert Consort Amsterdam and, together with her husband Herre Jan Stegenga, performs repertoire for violin and cello. She gives master classes in Spain and teaches violin and chamber music at the American School of Arts in Fontainebleau, France. In 1988 she was appointed as leader second violin with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and in 2006 as second concertmaster.
