Delyana Lazarova

Conductor

Delyana Lazarova is a talented conductor who sees herself as a musician among musicians.

Her approach is based on collaboration, openness and sensitivity to the specific sound and character of each orchestra. Orchestras worldwide appreciate her ability to convey sound and create an environment where the music comes into its own.

Delyana studied conducting at the Zurich University of the Arts with Professor Johannes Schlaefli and attended numerous master classes with Bernard Haitink, Paavo Järvi, Leonard Slatkine and others. She also studied violin at the Jacobs School of Music in Indiana with Maurits Järvi. Her international musical training influences her broad repertoire. Born in Bulgaria, she has a natural affinity for Eastern European and Russian repertoire (Dvořák, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Bartók), but feels equally at home in the Viennese Classical period.

Delyana was assistant conductor to Sir Mark Elder at the Hallé Orchestra. In recent years she has conducted several orchestras including the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck, the Orchestre National de Bordeaux, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Dresdner Philharmonie, Deutsches Sinfonieorchester Berlin and the Sinfonieorchester Basel.
