Diego Jaén García was born in León, Spain.

He studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and with the timpanists and percussionists of the Concertgebouw Orchestra, Nick Woud and Tomohiro Ando, Mark Braafhart and Bence Major. During his studies, Diego took regular master classes with timpanists in other European countries, including Marinus Komst, Maarten van der Valk, Raymond Curffs, Bart Jansen, Guido Rückel, Gratiniano Murcia and the percussionists Herman Rieken, Guido Macggrander and Lorenzo Ferrándiz, among others.
Diego has played with several youth orchestras, including the National Youth Orchestra (NJO), Joven Orquesta Nacional de España (JONDE), Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO) and the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO). There he became acquainted with Lorenzo Viotti and many other conductors, Daniel Harding, Vladimir Jurowvsky, Vasily Petrenko, Stéphane Denève, Gianandrea Noseda and Marin Alsop. He has performed with soloists such as Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Lisa Batiashvili, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Gautier Capuçon, Nicolas Alstaedt and Andreas Ottensamer.
From 2019 to 2020, Diego was already an academist with the Netherlands Philharmonic and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra. In the period since, he has been co-captain percussion with the London Philharmonia, performed with the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra, the North Netherlands Orchestra, The Ballet Orchestra, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Spanish Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, among others.
Since August 2022, Diego has been principal percussion with the Netherlands Philharmonic and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra.
