He graduated from the Sweelinck Conservatory of Amsterdam with Jacob Slagter. He then studied with Martin van der Merwe and Bob Stoel at the Rotterdam Conservatory, and with Roger Bobo. Before joining the Netherlands Philharmonic and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra as a permanent hornist in 2006, he spent 15 years with the New Belgian Chamber Orchestra and the Beethoven Academy in Belgium. Fred plays regularly with the Belgian wind ensemble I Solisti del Vento, in the Rotterdam and Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Amsterdam Sinfonietta and many other orchestras in Belgium and the Netherlands.
