German alto/mezzo-soprano Gerhild Romberger is a much sought-after soloist in the oratorio and concert repertoire.

She has worked with Europe's leading orchestras, including the Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary music, but she is particularly renowned for her interpretations of Mahler, Bach and Brahms. She is known for her warm tone, great expressiveness and combination of technical mastery, sensitivity to text and deeply felt musicality. Gerhild Romberger has performed with renowned conductors such as Bernard Haitink, Simon Rattle, Mariss Jansons, Riccardo Chailly, Herbert Blomstedt and Andris Nelsons. She can be heard on numerous recordings, including the acclaimed recording of Mahler's Third Symphony with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Bernard Haitink, which was named CD of the Year by BBC Music Magazine in 2018. Her first solo CD with songs by Mahler, accompanied by Alfredo Perl, was released by MDG in 2016.
