Laura Oomens was born in Middelburg, the daughter of a pianist and a violinist.

Growing up in Germany, Laura began playing the violin at the age of four under the tutelage of her father. After this she took lessons with Herman Krebbers, Uwe-Martin Haiberg and David Takeno. From 2007 to 2010 Laura was first violinist with the Residentie Orkest. In the last year she was second concertmaster. In 2009 she founded the Unison Chamber Music Festival in Sangerhausen, Germany. Since 2012, Laura has been deputy leader second violins of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra.
Laura plays a Nicolaus Gagliano from 1779, made available to her by the
National Music Instruments Fund
