Laurens de Man

Laurens de Man (’s-Hertogenbosch, 1993) is a versatile and enterprising keyboard player.

He was awarded several prizes as pianist and organist, at competitions in The Hague (Prinses Christina Concours, piano), Würzburg (Klavierwettbewerb J.S. Bach), Groningen (Martini Organ Competition, 1st prize) and Freiberg (Silbermann Wettbewerb, 1st prize, ECHO Young Organist of the Year 2020.). In 2018, he won the Sweelinck-Muller Prize; in 2024, he was awarded the Nederlandse Muziekprijs, the highest recognition for a classical musician in the Netherlands awarded by the Dutch Ministry of Culture. As a pianist of a.o. the Chimaera Trio, he plays and arranges chamber music from four centuries; the trio recorded two CD’s. In 2012 he was appointed principal organist of the Janskerk in Utrecht, where he plays an instrument by Bätz-Witte (1861). In the seansons 2021-2023, he is Organist in Residence at the newly built Contius organ in Leuven (BE). He teaches classical piano technique for jazz pianists at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. From 2023, he teaches organ at the Utrecht Conservatory.
