Spanish double bassist Luis Cabrera trained at the Conservatorio Profesional Joaquin Turina in Madrid.

He continued his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin. Since 2006, he has been double bass leader with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. He has played with many symphony orchestras, including the Orchestre National de France, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with such renowned conductors as Valery Gergiev, Kurt Masur and Bernard Haitink. He is also active in chamber music with which he has appeared on international stages such as Wigmore Hall and the Palacio de Cibeles in Madrid.
Luis Cabrera teaches at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Codarts Rotterdam. He is also a popular guest lecturer worldwide. He plays on a double bass by Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi from 1770, made available to him by the National Musical Instruments Fund.
