Norwegian mezzo-soprano Marianne Beate Kielland started her career at the Staatsoper Hannover.

She sang diverse opera roles with the National Opera of Japan and the Opéra Comique in Paris, among others. On the concert stage, she has worked with numerous Scandinavian Orchestras as well as with the Freiburger Barockorchester, the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. The singer has a large number of CDs to her credit with oratorios and operas by Bach, Handel and Vivaldi, among others. She sang Bach's St. John Passion in April 2024 with the Symphony Orchestra of Stavanger under Japanese Bach specialist Masato Suzuki.
