Marieke Kosters

First violin

Marieke Kosters (b. 1997) began playing the violin at the age of six.

At the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, she studied with Ilona Sie Dhian Ho and Peter Brunt. In her teens, she discovered the joy of playing in a symphony orchestra. She was a member of the JeugdOrkest Nederland for five years, including two years as concertmaster, was concertmaster of the Nederlands Studenten Orkest and went on tour with the European Union Youth Orchestra to Austria, Italy and Oman, among other places. Even during her studies she got a job with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. She also plays a lot of chamber music with the Helikon Quartet. Marieke plays on a violin on loan from the National Music Instruments Fund , made by Joseph Hel in ca. 1880.
