Miek Laforce received her first horn lessons at the age of nine.

In 1996, she began her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with André Van Driessche and Luc Bergé. In 2001, she obtained her master's degree with great distinction.
She became laureate of the Ingeborg Köberle Prize and during and after her studies played in various orchestras and chamber music ensembles, including the Flemish Radio Orchestra, the orchestra of La Monnaie, Prometheus Ensemble and l'Orchestre des Champs-Elysées.
In 2003, Miek was hired as permanent hornist with the Netherlands Philharmonic. She also plays regularly in the Residentie Orkest, the Radio Kamer Filharmonie and the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. She is also active in chamber music ensembles MP21 and Soffio Quintet.
