Quirine Viersen

Cello

In her performances, Quirine always strives to communicate with the audience. By conveying her feelings, she wants to experience the music together with her listeners and 'touch' them with her playing.

In addition to the standard concertos in the cello repertoire, Quirine has a special affinity for the cello concertos of Samuel Barber, Erich Korngold and Antonin Dvorak, and for the Double Concerto by Johannes Brahms. Her interest in contemporary music even led her to perform the world premiere of Glacier at the Cello Biennale Amsterdam in 2018, a solo work that Jacob ter Veldhuis wrote especially for Quirine.

Another of Quirine's great passions is playing in a chamber music setting, such as with an ensemble led by pianist Severin v. Eckardstein, with whom she will tour the major concert halls of the Netherlands in 2022 with an eight-concert piano quintet program.

Quirine has made more than ten albums, her most recent (with Thomas Beijer) was released in the fall of 2023 and includes the sonatas of Chopin, Poulenc and Escher.
