Roberto González-Monjas

Conductor/violin

Roberto González-Monjas, who is originally from Spain, began his career as a violinist.

He was concertmaster of the Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and leader of the Musikkollegium Winterthur. As a soloist he has worked with musicians such as Hilary Hahn and András Schiff, and recorded Bach's Brandenburg Concertos with the Berlin Baroque Soloists. Nowadays, Roberto González-Monjas is a much sought-after conductor who mainly leads the orchestra from the concertmaster's seat. He is chief conductor of the Dalasinfoniettan in Sweden, the Musikkollegium Winterthur and principal guest conductor of the National Orchestra of Belgium.

In the 2024/2025 season, Roberto González-Monjas conducted the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in a performance of Beethoven's famous Fifth Symphony .
