After winning first prize at the 1991 Oskar Back Competition, she continued her studies with Thomas Zehetmair and Thomas Brandis in Berlin, where she subsequently lived for nearly 20 years. From 1999, Saskia was primarius of the Athena Quartet founded in Berlin. After studying with the Alban Berg Quartet, the quartet won international prizes (including at the Concours de Genève) and gave many concerts. For the 2011 CD released by Neos/WDR, featuring all of György Kurtág's string quartets, the quartet received a Diapason d'Or.
As a soloist she has performed with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Brabants Orkest, Orkest van het Oosten, Orchestra Philharmonica Buenos Aires and the Berliner Symphoniker, among others.
Since 2016, in addition to her orchestra job, she has been a member of Ensemble Lumaka (string trio, flute and harp) with which she gives many concerts and makes radio and CD recordings.
