Sorin Orcinschi began studying double bass at the age of 14 in Romania.

After studying in Romania, he received a stipend in Germany at the Music Academy in Karlsruhe with Professor Wolfgang Güttler, where he graduated cum laude in 2003.
Sorin was a stipendee at Villa Musica and worked with Krzystof Penderecki, Arnold Steinhardt, Georg Faust and Martin Ostertag, among others. While studying in Germany, he played with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, Junge Europa Philharmonie and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. He was also a member of double bass ensemble “The Geatles.
From 2002 to 2007, Sorin was double bassist with the Noord Nederlands Orkest. He also worked with other Dutch orchestras, such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic. Besides his position in the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Sorin works as principal study teacher in classical double bass and professional methodology at the Prince Claus Conservatory in Groningen. He has given master classes in the Netherlands, France, Romania and Italy, among other countries, and has performed with chamber ensembles at various international festivals.
Abroad, Sorin worked as a conductor with orchestras such as SWR Radio Symphonie Orchester in Germany, Basque National Orchestra in Spain, Gulbenkian Orchestra in Portugal and the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra in Monaco. In season 2017 - 2018, he was solo double bassist of the Radio Symphonie Orchester in Vienna.
He has soloed with orchestras such as the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, Brasov Philharmonic Orchestra and George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as with ensembles of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.
