The Orchestra Academy of the Netherlands Philharmonic & Netherlands Chamber Orchestra is unique. Since 2012, we offer a number of young musicians the chance to gain a year's experience in our orchestras on the stage of The Concertgebouw and in the orchestra pit of The National Opera. They participate as full orchestra members in productions with top conductors, soloists and, of course, our own orchestra musicians. In doing so, we provide an important bridge between training and practice. The two orchestras have very different dynamics, repertoire and playing culture, and the role of a musician is very different in this.

Orchestra Academy
Our Orchestra Academy offers the following:
- Participation in a minimum of 10 orchestra weeks; the weeks may include concert productions, opera productions in the Netherlands Philharmonic & Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, as well as educational productions;
- Audition training and a trial audition behind curtain and extensive feedback;
- Participation in one or more chamber music projects with musicians from the orchestras;
- A number of individual lessons from an orchestral musician of your choice
- Participation in one or more workshops;
- Upon successful completion of the academy, the academist will receive a certificate;
- The academy certificate gives priority during trial performances for the Netherlands Philharmonic & Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, in the sense that the former academist is immediately admitted to the first audition round, provided the certificate is not older than three years. This priority rule applies only to trial plays for tutti positions.
