Floris Kortie and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra delve into the Sixth Symphony of genius
On Saturday 30 August, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and presenter Floris Kortie will unravel Beethoven's 'Pastoral' at the Caprera Open Air Theatre in Bloemendaal. The composer's Sixth Symphony is perfectly suited to this summery location in the heart of nature, because if you listen carefully, you can hear storms rushing by, rivers flowing, animal sounds and peasant festivals.
Using letters, notebooks and musical excerpts, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, conducted by violinist Pablo Hernán Benedí, and Podium Klassiek presenter Floris Kortie explore the history behind Beethoven's masterpiece. Despite his rapidly advancing deafness, the genius managed to create these compelling soundscapes. It promises to be a unique evening in the open air.
