Agenda

In the run-up to Christmas, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra invites you to its annual Christmas concert. Conducted by violinist Gordan Nikolić, the music will shine, move you, and give you space for reflection—exactly what makes this time of year so special.

The concert opens with Britten and his colorful Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge , followed by Haydn's beloved Trumpet Concerto in E-flat , performed by French soloist Lucienne Renaudin Vary.

After the intermission, festive tones of jubilation will be heard in Bach's cantata J auchzet Gott in allen Landen , in which soprano Lucie Chartin carries the listener away in a hymn of praise full of virtuosity. Mozart's Symphony No. 34 and the lyrical concert aria Vorrei spiegarvi, oh Dio provide a radiant conclusion.

Lucie Chartin and Lucienne Renaudin Vary

Two exceptional soloists will be in the spotlight at this Christmas concert. Trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Orchestre National de France and the Brussels Philharmonic from a young age. She is equally at home in jazz, performing with her own jazz quartet, among others. Soprano Lucie Chartin has previously worked with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in Antonio Vivaldi's Salve Regina for soprahno and orchestra. She is praised for her “impeccable coloraturas” (The Times) and “magnetic stage charisma” (The Sunday Times).
